ASDA DRIVES DOWN COST OF CAR INSURANCE WITH £10M ROLLBACK.

February 08, 2005

ASDA today (7 February 2005) announced a £10m permanent rollback that will slash the cost of customers’ car insurance this year.

The rollback represents an average saving of 15% on fully comprehensive cover and is even more impressive when compared to other insurers where savings of up to 60% are not out of the ordinary*. Unlike many other insurers the price investment is not a ‘one off’ or ‘January type’ sale and runs throughout the year.

Customers comparing the cost of ASDA’s policy with other insurers may be in for a pleasant surprise. The premium for a 1996 Ford Mondeo in Hornsea is only £241 with ASDA, compared to £360 ....cont/

with Tesco and £546 with More Than. A premium for a 1998 Fiat Seicento in Woolwich costs £317 with ASDA, compared to £416 with Tesco and £462 with More Than.*

“Unlike other insurers this is no gimmick. Whenever you buy insurance from ASDA you can be confident of everyday low prices every day of the year. This £10m rollback shows we’ve moved up a gear when it comes to driving down the cost of motor insurance. It also is a further illustration that we are committed to cutting the costs for customers - whether it’s on their weekly shop or their annual motor insurance premiums,” Gev Lynott, director of financial services at ASDA.

6. Build up your No Claims Bonus.

7. Cut your speed. If you get caught on a speed camera or in a speed trap, three points on your licence will add up to 20% to your premium. 6 points will add between 30 and 70%.

9. Don’t take your car abroad. For fully comprehensive cover, you’ll need to add a few pounds on to your premium to drive in Europe.

10. Shop around! You can save hundreds of pounds if you take a few minutes to search for a low-cost insurer, like ASDA.
