Motorists living in city areas are 15% more likely to claim on their car insurance policy than those in the country, yet accidents in rural areas are 10% more costly on average, according to new research from internet insurer, esure.

The figures suggest that while there may be more bumps on gridlocked city ....cont/

areas, the enforced reduction in speeds on busy streets may be reducing the cost and seriousness of the accidents that do occur.

Esure's analysis of over 100,000 claims across the UK shows that country claims produce consistently higher levels of accidental damage possibly due to the combination of higher average speeds, narrower roads and a greater feeling of safety that can dilute the natural caution of drivers. ....cont/
